Nationwide mobilization advances toward Caracas, calling for an end to sanctions and respect for sovereignty

Venezuela’s National Pilgrimage continued on April 27 with regional activities, as officials and participants reiterated calls for lifting sanctions and defending national sovereignty.

The mobilization, convened by acting president Delcy Rodríguez, moved forward Monday with scheduled events in the states of Carabobo and Sucre, building on previous days of activities.

On Sunday, participants held a “Prayer for a Venezuela without sanctions and in peace,” which proceeded in a peaceful and orderly manner, consistent with the character of the pilgrimage.

Bolívar state governor Yulisbeth García described the gathering on her official TikTok account: “Through prayers, songs, praise, unity, faith and hope, we experienced a Night of Worship to God for a Venezuela without sanctions and in peace.”

She added: “Together with Mayor Wuihelm Torrellas, churches and the people of Guasipati, we raised our hands to the sky to pray for the country.”

Authorities stated that the activities aim to demand respect for Venezuela’s sovereignty and for the rights of its population before the international community.

During events held Saturday in Nueva Esparta, National Assembly First Vice President Pedro Infante said: “Today we continue this pilgrimage, which means walking together with our people and all social sectors to keep calling for Venezuela to be freed from sanctions.”

Rodríguez also stressed that ending sanctions “is not a privilege; it is a fundamental right.”

The National Pilgrimage began on April 19, marking the anniversary of Venezuela’s first declaration of independence, and is set to conclude in Caracas on May 1 under the slogan “Venezuela Vuela Libre.”

Organizers continue to frame the mobilization as a collective effort involving institutions, religious groups and social sectors, centered on calls to end sanctions.
