Venezuela’s Acting President Calls for Strengthening Participatory Democracy

Delcy Rodriguez urges community organization during visit to Nueva Esparta commune.

On Thursday, Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez said the path her country must follow is the consolidation of participatory and protagonist democracy.

During a visit to the socio-productive commune “El Datil,” located in Nueva Esparta state, she urged citizens to continue working collectively to strengthen participatory and protagonist democracy.

“The community grabs its chairs, sits down to discuss, decides its projects, and the investment goes directly to the projects,” Rodriguez said as she referred to upcoming editions of the National Popular Consultation.

“El Datil” is a commune made up of five communal councils representing about 1,298 families and 3,011 residents. The area received its first presidential visit in support of its communal initiatives and projects.

Residents of Diaz municipality and Nueva Esparta Gov. Marisel Velasquez thanked Rodriguez for her visit to help advance pig and poultry farming projects that they plan to submit to popular consultation for implementation in 2026.
