The negotiations in Türkiye lasted around two hours
The talks between Russia and Ukraine in Istanbul have ended, with the two delegations departing and press statements being prepared, a TASS source has said.
Ukrainian and Russian officials have yet to issue public statements regarding the first round of talks in three years between the two nations, aimed at resolving the conflict and finding a lasting peace.
An unnamed member of the Ukrainian delegation previously told Novyny LIVE that “this is a pause, not the end — the talks may yet continue.”
A source told RIA Novosti that the Russian delegation temporarily left the negotiation room during the talks on Friday, taking a pause in the discussions. It remains unclear whether the delegation will depart Türkiye today, the source added.
Delegations from Moscow and Kiev were expected to hold discussions on Thursday after Putin suggested resuming the Istanbul talks, which were broken off three years ago.
The Kremlin delegation waited for its counterpart to arrive for the whole day. Vladimir Zelensky only named his delegation later in the evening, and the talks have been rescheduled for Friday.
