Venezuela's defense minister highlights militia's tactical power

Venezuelan Minister of Defense Vladimir Padrino highlighted the tactical and disciplinary power demonstrated by the national militia during the 'Escudo Militar Bolivariano 2020' (Bolivarian Military Shield-2020) exercise.

'The National Bolivarian Militia is a special component of the Armed Forces, giving it an added, substantive value for all the effects of the defense of the homeland,' said the minister.

Padrino called the Venezuelans to exalt the labor of the militia, and assured that the men and women who are part of it are a regular combatant with discipline, preparation and a command, allowing them to be assigned a firearm during the exercises.

'Everything we've seen of the mobilization of the people, the Militia and the Armed Forces complementing each other, is a positive sign that we are moving in the right direction of a country that defends peace, democracy, its institutions, the State and the Bolivarian Revolution,' he said.

He stressed that over 2,300,000 militiamen are taking part in the exercises, which end on Sunday, and whose goal is to prepare for the defense of the country.
