Chile wins awards as an adventure tourism and cruise destination

Chile won two silver awards in the 6th edition of the Travvy Awards, in the categories of Adventure Destination and World Expedition and Cruise Destination of Central and South America.

With these two statuettes, Chile remains a recognized destination for those seeking an adventure trip, thanks to the conditions of the country, which has a varied geography and natural settings including arid deserts, high mountains, glaciers and beaches.

Tourism Undersecretary Monica Zalaquett noted that this new distinction 'reflects the hard work done by Chile to consolidate itself as a world-class destination,' and recalled that in recent years the country was also awarded in the World Travel Awards in the category of adventure.

She added that Chile also strengthens in the cruise mode, with progressive growth in landings in the country and that, according to projections, would increase 19.5 percent this season.

The gold prize in the adventure destination category went to Alaska, while the golden statuette in the best cruise destination in Central and South America was left to Panama.

According to the National Director of the National Tourism Service (SERNATUR) Andrea Wolleter in the Travvy Awards 'over 100,000 travel agents from the US voted, which is the biggest voting list of tourism professionals in history, they determined the winners of 2020.'

The Travvy, which have been conferred in the US for the sixth year, recognize the highest standards of excellence in tourism, be companies, products, agencies or destinations that have brought innovation to the industry and achieved outstanding achievements.
