European Union supports operating 5G with Huawei

The European Union (EU) ruled out today the exclusion of Chinese manufacturer Huawei from the implementation of 5G network.

European Commissioner of Industry Thierry Breton said that the European Commission (EC) would not exclude, in principle, Chinese manufacturer Huawei from the development of 5G network in the bloc, but it will set strict rules. He said that it is not about discriminating; it is simply about setting rules. They will be strict, demanding, and will clearly welcome in Europe all carriers that wish to implement them.

Speaking to members of the European Parliament, the former French Minister of Economy, who also led France Télécom operator, will reveal on Wednesday his plans for the development of this new network generation.

This issue of 5G mobile network in the bloc has emerged in a context of unrest over Huawei.

The United States did not allow this company, second in the smartphones market, to develop 5G network in its territory, accusing it of being controlled by Beijing, for which it could spy, which was denied by this company.

In an interview with Belgian L'Echo daily, the head of Huawei Europe, Walter Ji, deemed impossible the exclusion of his company from the European bloc, defending its ties with local technological partners, and its commercial value.

The United States, Australia, and Japan have already excluded it from their territories, but the European countries are much more divided on the issue, despite pressure from Washington.

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. is a private Chinese multinational high-tech company specialized in research and development, electronic production and telecommunications equipment marketing.

In addition, it provides custom network solutions to operators of the telecommunications industry. It was founded by Ren Zhengfei and has some 180,000 employees.

This company was founded on September 15, 1987, in Shenzhen, in the People's Republic of China. Its current CEO is Ren Zhengfei, since 1988.
