Venezuela's re-election to UN Human Rights Council highlighted

Venezuelan constituent assembly member Maria Alejandra Diaz highlighted the South American country's achievement for the re-election to the UN Human Rights Council, amid US aggressions.

'The victory of peace diplomacy is a triumph and it demonstrates the defeat of the US-led coalition,' the president of the Human Rights Commission at the National Constituent Assembly (ANC) said.

Diaz also explained that Venezuela's entry to the council, founded in 2006 and for which more than 40 UN States are elected, stands as a moral lesson for Michelle Bachelet, following the presentation of her report on Human rights in the country in July.

The ANC president stressed the recognition of 105 nations that supported Venezuela's candidacy, while reflected on the protests staged in Chile against the neoliberal measures by President Sebastian Piñera and the position adopted by Bachelet about this issue.

Diosdado Cabello, First Vice President of the United Socialist Party of Venezuela, also condemned the attitude by the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights and former Chilean president, who did not speak out until Monday regarding the repression recorded in the country.

Since Friday, October 18, thousands of Chileans have taken to the streets in rejection to the rise in subway fares, more than 1,000 people were detained, and a State of Emergency and continuous curfews were decreed in some provinces.
