Gaza: Palestinian martyred in Israeli strike on displaced camp

A Palestinian was martyred, and others were wounded Thursday evening when an Israeli drone targeted a tent sheltering displaced Palestinians near the Regional Junction in al-Mawasi, west of Khan Younis in the southern Gaza Strip.

Several Palestinians were also wounded in a separate Israeli drone strike targeting the al-Mawasi area, while Israeli military vehicles opened fire toward southern parts of Khan Younis and displaced people’s tents in al-Mawasi, Rafah.

The attacks came as Israeli forces continued strikes and shelling across the Gaza Strip, despite the ongoing ceasefire.

Israeli Attacks Continue Across Gaza

On Friday, an Israeli airstrike targeted the vicinity of Mushtaha Street in the al-Shuja'iyya neighborhood, east of Gaza City, according to Al Mayadeen's correspondent. An Israeli drone also dropped bombs near the al-Shuja'iyya intersection.

In central Gaza, Israeli artillery shelled areas east of Deir al-Balah, while Israeli military vehicles opened fire in the area. Israeli forces also carried out demolitions south of Khan Younis.

In Gaza City, Israeli aircraft conducted four strikes east of the city, targeting unoccupied residential buildings near the so-called “Yellow Line” around al-Sanafour Junction, east of the al-Tuffah neighborhood.

Israeli artillery also shelled areas east of al-Masdar village and north of al-Bureij refugee camp, while Israeli forces fired illumination flares over several areas in northern Gaza.

The latest escalation follows the killing of eight Palestinians and the wounding of dozens more in Israeli strikes across Gaza on Wednesday.

Gaza Death Toll Rises

According to figures from the Palestinian Health Ministry, the number of Palestinians martyred since the start of the ceasefire has reached 1,439, while 5,026 have been wounded. The number of bodies recovered during the same period stands at 834.

The cumulative toll of the Israeli aggression on Gaza since October 7, 2023, has risen to 74,040 martyrs and 175,142 wounded, according to the ministry.

The continued strikes, artillery fire, demolitions, and attacks on areas sheltering displaced Palestinians underscore the fragile nature of the ceasefire, with Israeli war on Gaza continuing to cause casualties across different parts of the besieged enclave.
