Russia Advances in Kostiantynivka as Ukraine Begins Evacuations From Sloviansk

Currently, Russian troops are intensifying their renewed Donbas offensive.

On Monday, the Russian Defense Ministry announced advances in the stronghold of Kostiantynivka, in the Donetsk region, and the beginning of a Ukrainian evacuation from Sloviansk, one of the main targets of the Russian offensive in the Donbas.

“More than 100 buildings were liberated in Kostiantynivka within 24 hours. The enemy suffered more than 100 casualties, lost three armored vehicles and 18 pickup trucks,” the military report said.

Assault groups from the South military grouping are conducting active offensive operations and continue fighting the enemy in the southwestern part of the city, located about 30 kilometers (19 miles) from Kramatorsk, the largest stronghold of the Ukrainian army in the Donetsk region.

Russian military officials also reported the capture of 35 buildings in Lyman — Krasnyi Lyman — located about 12 miles from Sloviansk.

“In light of the rapid advance of units from the South military grouping in Kostiantynivka, the Kiev regime is accelerating the evacuation of the most important enterprises and institutions from the villages of Druzhkivka and Sloviansk in the Donetsk People’s Republic,” Russian military authorities said.

Kiev’s plans demonstrate that the enemy “is preparing for the loss of the entire Sloviansk-Kramatorsk urban agglomeration and its imminent transfer to the Russian Armed Forces,” the Russian Ministry stated.

In recent days, the Russian army has revived its offensive in the Donbas after six months of trench warfare. Through street fighting, Russian troops have gained full control of the eastern part of Kostiantynivka.

Currently, Russian units are reportedly eliminating defenders in the southwestern part of the town and on the grounds of a strategic metallurgical plant.
