Venezuela’s Anti-Sanctions Pilgrimage to Conclude in Caracas

Three caravans to converge in the capital city as government highlights mass mobilizations.

On Thursday, the “National Pilgrimage for a Venezuela Free of Sanctions and in Peace,” convened by Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Rodriguez, will conclude upon its arrival in Caracas.

Three large caravans will converge in the Venezuelan capital: the western caravan, led by Rodriguez; the Los Llanos and Andes caravan, led by Diosdado Cabello; and the southern caravan, led by National Assembly President Jorge Rodriguez.

Across different regions of Venezuela, “mass mobilizations have made visible the collective rejection of coercive measures affecting the national economy,” the National Assembly president said, while outlining some features of the closing event.

“There will be a large festival taking place at La Carlota with eight stages where international and national artists will gather. There will be no form of reference to who are Chavistas, opposition members, or independents,” he said.

The National Pilgrimage rallies, which began on April 19 to mark the commemoration of the first cry for independence, will end on May 1, Labor Day, under the slogan “Venezuela Flies Free.” Their conclusion is intended to symbolize the beginning of a new period of social cohesion.

Throughout its journey, the pilgrimage has managed to unite all states and regions of the country, with massive demonstrations in states like Aragua, Miranda, La Guaira, and Guarico, demonstrating a sustained presence that has transcended the symbolic to become a national reality.

Beyond the mobilization itself, the pilgrimage has served as a meeting point for various sectors. Workers, business leaders, social movements, religious organizations, political actors, and opposition members have all agreed on the need to move toward a common agenda focused on economic recovery and the lifting of sanctions.

“I want to heal the resentment in Venezuela, so that there is no more hatred and intolerance toward those who think differently,” Acting President Rodriguez said from the city of Maracay on Wednesday, where he promised to continue working toward the elimination of all sanctions against his country.
