Acting President Rodriguez: Venezuela-Barbados Economic Union is Being Born

She highlights cooperation in energy, food production and tourism.

After returning to Venezuela on Monday night, Acting President Delcy Rodriguez informed her compatriots about the results of her official visit to Barbados.

“Back in Venezuela, we are very pleased with the results of our work agenda in Barbados. We are convinced that international cooperation is essential to open opportunities for our youth, generate jobs, and boost the country’s productive development,” she wrote on Telegram.

“We are children of Bolivar, and we will continue along the path of integration of our Latin America and the Caribbean,” Rodriguez added.

During her stay on the Caribbean island, Venezuela’s acting president reviewed the roadmap for bilateral cooperation with Barbadian Prime Minister Mia Mottley, which includes consolidating projects in food production, energy sovereignty and regional connectivity.

At a press conference at the end of her visit, Rodriguez announced the formal launch of an economic and commercial union between Barbados and Venezuela.

“We have agreed to review our production and export matrices so that we can complement each other, so that we can acquire goods in Barbados and Barbados can acquire goods in Venezuela without having to look beyond our borders, which are close and sisterly,” she said.

“We reviewed matters related to tourism so that we can increase the number of flights between Venezuela and Barbados, even integrating other destinations close to our countries, and so that we can offer tourism packages to our compatriots.”

“I told the prime minister that today, April 27, 2026, the economic and commercial union between Barbados and Venezuela is being born,” Rodriguez stressed.

The visit to Barbados is Rodriguez’s second official trip abroad since she assumed the acting presidency on Jan. 5. Her first international trip was to Grenada on April 9.
