Lula rejects front with coup and Bolsonaro supporters

Former Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva on Thursday rejected the so-called Broad Front, made up of coup supporters and followers of Jair Bolsonaro, who rule out demanding the destitution of the extreme right-wing head of State.

'I support any struggle to recuperate democracy in this country. I will not join hypocrisy. People who talk about democracy in an abstract way, but do not want Bolsonaro's removal, because they adore the policy of Paulo Guedes (minister of Economy)', Lula wrote on social networks.

For the same reason, the founder of the Workers' Party opposed, a few weeks ago, the manifesto 'We Are Together', signed by figures such as former President Fernando Henrique Cardoso, announcer Luciano Huck, from TV Globo, and left-wing personalities like Marcelo Freixo, Guilherme Boulos, Fernando Haddad and Flavio Dino.

'At 74 I have already signed so many manifestos? But let's remember that there are 35 petitions of impeachment in the House (of Deputies) and this manifesto does not mention either Bolsonaro or Guedes,' Lula twitted on June 4.

During an interview on the Giro Nordeste program on Thursday, Lula pointed out, 'I will not play the role of a clown. Whoever wants to talk about democracy must defend the destitution of Bolsonaro,' he underlined.
