Iranian Parliament Rejects Atomic Agency Decree

Iran's parliament today rejected a decree by the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) that is considered to be politically infused and unprofessional.

The IAEA Board of Governors made a big mistake, says an official note from Congress, by submitting to pressure from the United States and its allies.

In any case, the text points out, it lacks legal and technical validity, taking into account that its bases were obtained through espionage methods and without any verification.

Drafted by the representatives of France, the United Kingdom and Germany, the resolution demands access to Iranian nuclear sites where there is suspicion of illegal fissionable activity.

That argument is untenable, because the Islamic Republic's peaceful nuclear program has been subjected to the most rigorous inspections in the history of the U.N. agency.

Seventeen times, IAEA experts have certified that Iran honors the provisions of the Comprehensive Joint Action Plan (CJAP), while other signatories of that agreement have disrespected it.

The Islamic Republic cooperated and interacted as extensively as possible in the inspections, the Parliamentary Note states.
