Correa calls the President of Ecuador, Lenin Moreno, a traitor

Ex President Rafael Correa (2007-2017) continues today at the center of Ecuadorian politics, by calling as traitor the government of Lenin Moreno for boosting neoliberal measures.

After 10 days of protests in the South American nation, Correa rejects present Moreno administration, who he accuses of coupist and betrayal of revolution and democracy.

From his personal Twitter account, the former president claims for anticipates and expresses his dislike for Moreno's belated decision to dialogue, as a way to end demonstrations.

Correa profits from the immediacy of the micro-blogging network to ratify his commitment to the people and the defense of constitutional rights of the country.

On the other hand, in statements to BBC World, the former head of State evaluated as brutal the repression in Ecuador's present situation, with casualties, hundreds of wounded and over 700 detainees.

'The violence of the Armed Forces and, above all, the police, is terrible, kicking citizens in the streets, throwing the horses upon the people, the use of tear gas, plastic bullets', thus he described the repressive panorama during the riots.

About Moreno's statements accusing him of being the promoter of the crisis, Correa affirmed to the Spanish daily El Mundo that 'the coupists are they who have broken the constitutional order in everyway possible'.

Protagonist of the Citizen Revolution in Ecuador for a decade, Rafael Correa is now being politically persecuted by the present government and an arrest warrant for a case of alleged bribes prevents him from being in national territory.

The destabilization in the country responds to the citizens' rejection of the neoliberal policies of the Moreno administration, that eliminated subsidies to fuels and applied a group of economic measures that affect most of the people, due to an agreement with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
