US Actions against Venezuela Denounced in El Salvador

The US increasing aggressiveness against the democratically elected government of Venezuela is denounced Tuesday in El Salvador by diplomats, deputies and social movements.

Several voices of the Salvadoran leftwing call to respect the Venezuelan people will expressed at the polls last May, when Nicolas Maduro was elected President of the Bolivarian nation.

'To disregard Maduro is to ignore a whole people, the eight million people who participated in an electoral process, the Constitution and the powers of the State', said Venezuelan diplomat Fernando Diaz.

Diaz also said that the destabilization in his country is foster by Washington, with the support of the local far right, to appropriate the natural resources of Venezuela.

In this regard, the meddling of the US embassy in Venezuela, which supported the self-proclamation of the opposition deputy Juan Guaido as president, led to the rupture of relations with the US.

Diaz emphasized that Venezuela is a country which loves peace and democracy, as evidenced by the 25 elections held in two decades, as well as its constant invitation to the dialogue in multiple international forums.

In turn, the parliamentary group of the Farabundo Marti National Liberation Front (FMLN) issued a statement against an eventual military aggression against Venezuela.

'The Salvadoran people, who have lived through armed conflict for more than 12 years, confirm that the political solution is the best way to build peace, putting the interests of the nation first', the text pointed out.

The Front MPs also called for an end to the military, economic and political aggression against Venezuela, led by the president of the United States, Donald Trump.
