Minister Quevedo: Crude ship must be canceled before leaving Venezuela

The Venezuelan oil company Petróleos de Venezuela began on Tuesday to evaluate the response measures to the United States' pretensions to steal Venezuelan oil, following unilateral and illegal measures against the Venezuelan company on US soil, Citgo, informed the president of PDVSA and minister for Oil, Manuel Quevedo.

In transmission of VTV, Quevedo said after a previous meeting with executives of the state oil company, that the response that Venezuela will give will be directed to protect the interests of Venezuela, as well as the partners and suppliers of the company in the US and that have the lowest possible impact on the oil market, with the declaration of suspension of some contracts by a partial force majeure.

"All the options we are evaluating, among them the declaration of force majeure with the North American market, we have all the will to maintain the operation with the companies that have our supply contracts, but at the same time we want to protect our suppliers of supplies, materials, that have contracts with PDVSA and that may be affected, "he said.

He pointed out that under these conditions, PDVSA cannot fulfill some commitments with that market and that is why it seeks to impact the oil market as little as possible.

In that sense, he announced that "a ship that leaves a Venezuelan port with the oil that corresponds to the resources of our people must be canceled before leaving the port", as one of the first measures.

Quevedo indicated that Citgo is operational and as long as it is, PDVSA will not allow its resources to be stolen for conspiratorial purposes against the Republic.

Also, he described the new unilateral measures and outside of international law, taken last Monday by Washington, as a "shameless robbery" of the resources of the people of Venezuela.
