Chancellor Arreaza warns that the goal of the coup plan is Venezuelan oil

The Chancellor of the Republic, Jorge Arreaza, affirmed that the last actions of the United States government (US) show that the "only and true" objective of the coup maneuver promoted in Venezuela is to take over the Venezuelan crude.

In a message posted on his Twitter account, he noted that the new sanctions of the US Treasury Department against the state oil company Petróleos de Venezuela (Pdvsa) provide evidence on the reasons behind the coup.

"Other evidence for the coup plot: yesterday the spokesmen of Washington, with the impudence that characterizes them, provided the world with concrete and irrefutable evidence about the sole and true objective of this attempted coup in Venezuela: oil", wrote Arreaza.

On Monday, the US Treasury Department announced the imposition of new sanctions against PDVSA, including the $ 7 billion freeze and the blockade of payments made by US companies for the purchase of domestic oil.

The restrictive measure also indicates that the subsidiary of Pdvsa in the US, Citgo, may continue its operations, provided that its profits are deposited in an account blocked by the US administration.

Faced with this, the head of State instructed the president of PDVSA, Manuel Quevedo, to defend the interests of the company in the US courts, as well as accelerating political and legal actions to assert its assets and Venezuela as the sole owner.
