The Venezuelan government signed on Wednesday a new energy alliance contract with India, said Venezuelan Vice-President Tareck El Aissami.
"We are signing a new alliance contract in the energy field with India. Our PDVSA team is right there," he said in statements to state media.
He said that the Asian country, the seventh largest in the world, is offering full support to Venezuela facing the economic siege imposed by the United States Government, which seeks to restrict trading of bonds issued by the Venezuelan government and state oil company PDVSA.
He said that India is "an emerging power" that has developed "like no other country" the treatment drug industry.
"And all the medicines and components that Venezuela needs are going to be supplied by India. Here they will not make us kneel for any blockade or choke us," he said.
El Aissami also reported that the leaders of the Russian state-owned company Rosneft will arrive on Thursday to finalize energy alliances. "We are going to start trade oil in a currency other than the dollar," he added.
The Asian nation, through ONGC Videsh company, is a minority partner with PDVSA in the joint venture called Petrolera IndoVenezolana, formed in 2008, which operates in the Junin Division of the Orinoco Oil Belt Hugo Chavez.
