The Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America - Trade Treaty of the Peoples (ALBA-TCP) expressed its solidarity with Venezuela after the imperialist aggressions promoted by the US government.
"We reject the economic sanctions imposed on Venezuelan people, as they are a clear violation of international law, human rights and an unacceptable interventionist enforcement whose sole objective is to directly affect the Bolivarian Government and the people of Venezuela," states the final resolution of the 6th extraordinary meeting of the Political Council of ALBA, held in Caracas.
The document, read by the secretary general of the organization, David Choquehuanca, says that these actions do not solve the problems of Venezuelans, but instead make them worse.
They also reaffirmed their support to dialogue for peace in Venezuela, to resolve disputes peacefully. "We reiterate the call to hold a constructive and respectful dialogue to move towards political and economic stability of Venezuela."
The resolution also demands the international condemnation of violence in Venezuela in all its expressions, which has left dozens of people dead and injured, as well as material damages.
The ALBA countries welcome the installation of the National Constituent Assembly and consider it a legitimately sovereign act of the Venezuelan people.
ALBA members further denounced the existence of an intervention plan aimed at undermining the progressive governments of the continent. "We are ready to deal with it and fight as the Venezuelan people have done," the statement says.
ALBA also condemned the U.S. government's aggressive policy against Cuba as it reverses the gains made by the two nations over the last two years, as well as the construction of a wall on the Mexican border.
It reaffirmed its commitment to the declaration of Latin America and the Caribbean as a zone of peace signed by the Heads of State and Government of the region at the Second Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) and called for a regional union.
"We call on the peoples and governments of Latin America and the Caribbean to be alert and to unite in defense of our independence and regional sovereignty, as well as to close the way for those who are committed to reverse our social achievements, to prevent integration and unity of our America," the statement said.
