AVN.- Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro demanded Monday the governments of Colombia and Mexico to explain their involvement in interventionist plans led by the intelligence agency of the United States of America to justify a foreign intervention against the nation.
The president condemned the statements made by the director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), Mike Pompeo, who reaffirmed –in an interview– that his nation has interests in Venezuela, and as a result they coordinate interventionist actions with the governments of Mexico and Colombia.
"I demand the government of Mexico and the government of Colombia, to sufficiently clarify these statements of the CIA director, and subsequently I will make political and diplomatic decisions to face this audacity," he said in a joint radio and television address.
Maduro said these actions respond to the North American interest in controlling the wealth and natural resources of the South American nation, with huge reserves of oil and natural gas, among other minerals.
"But oil, gas, wealth of our country has a sole owner and is the people of Venezuela. That is why I demand (to Colombia and Mexico) to sufficiently explain these statements of the CIA, and I demand the government of the president (Donald) Trump to make it clear the insolent and interventionist words of this man (Pompeo), who believes they are the world government," he stated..
He also called for strengthening the civil-military union of all Venezuelans in the face of this international attack that seeks to intervene and to restrict the political and sovereign will of the nation.
"That time of the colonial empires, those who thought they were the owners of the world, it was over, it happened and it was very far away. Venezuela has to extensively prove it this week. Men and women, military men of my country, let us make this week a week of struggle, courage, and patriotic values, and next Sunday we will vote, rain or shine. The Constituent Assembly goes ahead because it is the will of the people and the deep homeland," Maduro said during celebration of the 194 anniversary of the Bolivarian Navy.
