Venezuelan right revives soft coup to cause destabilization

AVN.- Some representatives of the Venezuelan opposition, with the support of the international right, have resumed in recent months actions aimed at staging a soft coup against the nation, Socialist leader Jorge Rodriguez warned Monday.
"Before, it was about brutal blows, invasions and bombings, now they are soft coups that are none the less very dangerous, very cruel and do not stop being murderers of the dreams of the people and human lives, in the development of those soft coups," he said in a show broadcast by state media.
He said the international right's attempt to illegally approve an interventionist document against Venezuela from the Organization of American States is a sample of the new plans of the right.
"We are noting in the Venezuelan right and the world right as well, a deep despair," he added.
Rodriguez said the Venezuelan right appeals to five tactics of soft coups, a theory of politician Gene Sharp, who describes in his writings more than 100 "non-violent" ways to overthrow a government, through non-conventional means.
"First, 'non-violent' actions to cause discomfort ... economic war, queuing in supermarkets, the whole process to hoard the food we had for two years 2015, 2016, the bread war that failed with the Clap (Local Committees of Supply and Production), all this process of hiding the food of the people."
Secondly, the right wing seeks support from alleged US-funded Non-Governmental Organizations (NGOs), to launch the smear media campaign against the country and denounce false human rights violations.
Then, they seek to agitate the streets to fight for an alleged "recovery of freedoms". "The thing is that they have not been able to do it ... they have fewer and fewer people," he said.
Subsequently, these sectors drive violent street actions, to maintain a state of lawlessness and through this materialize the fifth stage that would be a coup.
"This is what we have seen in recent weeks," said Rodriguez, adding that the right will activate violent plans, to which the people must stay alert with conscience.
He said that these coup sectors are desperate, as the Venezuelan people identify President Nicolas Maduro as "the only leader who undertakes a process of recomposition of our productive system, social relations and proposes dialogue."
