More than 21,000 people attended 2016 Caracas Theater Festival

Caracas, 07 Jun. AVN.- More than 21,000 people have enjoyed the different performances and activities offered by the 2016 Caracas Theater Festival, said Monday the Director of the National Theater Center Andres Caldera.
Since its opening on Friday, June 3, this Festival is presented in different venues and open spaces of Caracas and 10 cities of the country with a range of options not only focused on theatrical disciplines but on other artistic expressions such as music, to offer Venezuelan citizens a wide variety of cultural diversity.
"We are excited because the audience's response has been wonderful. People can still get tickets, surely there are shows that are sold out, but there are other very good ones so they still have a chance to buy them," Caldera told state media.
He further stressed that the "public has been wonderful. Many actors have been surprised by the receptivity of the public, and there have been positive comments after performances. There is a party atmosphere throughout Caracas and will surely be felt in other cities where the Festival is being held for two weeks."
Caldera also said that the intention of the festival, besides making the viewer enjoy, is to highlight the theatrical diversity being done in revolution.
"Our revolution is varied, that's why we bring much of Venezuelan dramaturgy like that of Elio Palencia, Cesar Rengifo and more than 120 classics ranging from history to humor," he said.
He said that, following instructions of President Nicolas Maduro, "we continue to work in harmony and in the creation of spaces for peace in our country through culture".
Tickets for the plays can be booked through www.festivaldeteatrodecaracas.org.ve and purchased at the box office of the theaters at a cost of 250 bolivars.
2016 Theater Festival will take place in Caracas until June 12 and in nine other cities until June 19.
