In the early hours of Monday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) launched missiles at a U.S. military base in retaliation for an attack on a telecommunications tower on Sirik Island, located in Iran’s Hormozgan province.
The action was a response to attacks carried out by U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM), which conducted airstrikes in the Iranian city of Garuk and on Qeshm Island over the weekend.
The IRGC warned that its next response would be “completely different” and more extensive if U.S. attacks against Iran continue. It also emphasized that the current escalation is directly attributable to actions carried out by the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump.
On Monday, after analyzing satellite images and videos, the BBC reported that Iran has damaged twenty US military sites since the start of the war, suggesting that Iranian attacks “are more extensive than publicly acknowledged.”
“Iran has targeted key facilities across eight countries in the Middle East since the end of February, causing millions of dollars of damage to state-of-the-art air defense systems, refueling aircraft and radars,” the British outlet added.
The Ceasefire Includes Lebanon, Araghchi Insists
On Monday, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi insisted that the ceasefire in effect with the United States includes Lebanon, a country that has been heavily targeted by Israel.
He argued that a violation of the ceasefire “on a single front constitutes a violation of the ceasefire on all fronts.” “The United States and Israel are responsible for the consequences of any violation,” he stressed.
Despite the ceasefire, which has been in effect since April 8, the Jewish state has continued attacking the Arab country. On Monday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu announced new airstrikes on Beirut.
Iranian Parliament Speaker and chief Iranian negotiator Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf warned that the United States and Israel would pay for what Tehran considers a breach of the truce. “Every decision has a price, and there comes a time to pay the bill,” he posted on X.
