Iran Warns U.S. Its Response Would Go Beyond the Region

Tehran Threatens Escalation After Trump’s Warnings on Infrastructure Strikes.

On Tuesday, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) warned that the Iranian response would go “beyond the region” if the United States follows through on threats to attack power plants and bridges.

“The Revolutionary Guard once again declares that, if the terrorist U.S. Army crosses red lines, our response will go beyond the region,” the Iranian elite military force warned.

The Guard will not hesitate to respond in kind to “vile aggressions” against civilian facilities, referring to threats by U.S. President Donald Trump to attack all power plants and bridges if the Persian country does not open the strategic Strait of Hormuz by 8 p.m. Washington time Tuesday.

“We will act against the infrastructure of the United States and its partners in a way that deprives the United States and its allies of oil and gas from the region for years,” the IRGC warned.

The Guard said that, out of good neighborliness, it has shown “great restraint” in attacking civilian infrastructure in Middle Eastern countries linked to the United States. However, from now on, “all those considerations have been eliminated.”

Since the beginning of the U.S.-Israeli war on Iran, Tehran has blocked the transit of ships through the Strait of Hormuz, through which 20% of the world’s oil passes, and is allowing only vessels from countries it considers friendly to pass, which has driven up the price of oil.

Brig. Gen. Majid Mousavi, the commander of the IRGC Aerospace Force, announced that Iranian missiles have wreaked havoc in Haifa, forcing Israel to abandon northern cities in the occupied territories and to effectively acknowledge a shift in the balance of power.

“In the past 24 hours, refineries, power facilities, ports and railways in Haifa Bay have been targeted with Iranian missiles, and there have been no reports of missile interceptions,” he posted on social media.
