Iran claimed this Sunday to have launched a series of attacks against energy infrastructure in Israel and facilities linked to the United States in the United Arab Emirates, Bahrain, and Kuwait, in response to recent bombings against Iranian infrastructure.
“This morning, the first phase of the response was carried out through attacks against Zionist targets in the occupied territories and against US economic interests in the region,” the Iranian Revolutionary Guard announced in a statement collected by the Tasnim agency.
According to the document, the attacks included a refinery in Haifa that supplies fuel to Israeli fighter jets, as well as gas facilities of US companies in Habshan and a petrochemical plant in Al Ruwais, both in the United Arab Emirates; another petrochemical plant in Sitra (Bahrain); and a petrochemical complex in Shuaiba, in Kuwait.
The Guard indicated that some of these attacks caused large-scale fires and significant damage to infrastructure considered key for energy supply and military logistical support.
The Iranian elite military corps framed these actions as retaliation for Israeli-American attacks in recent days against Iranian infrastructure, including petrochemical facilities in Mahshahr and the B1 bridge in Karaj, 50 kilometers west of Tehran, which was still under construction and was going to be the longest bridge in the Middle East.
The Revolutionary Guard also warned that, in the event of repeated attacks against non-military targets in Iran, the next phase of the response will be “much more forceful and broad.”
