The German government today dismissed the call by President Donald Trump to abandon the Iran nuclear deal signed in 2015 by the United States, the United Kingdom, Russia, France, China and Germany.
We have different views on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action, a spokesperson for the Foreign Ministry said at a press conference.
'We want to use all the possibilities offered by the deal to move towards a diplomatic solution,' the source added.
France and the president of the European Council, Charles Michel, also defended the deal, from which the United States withdrew in 2018, with the Trump administration since imposing sanctions against Iran.
Iran announced in 2019 that every 60 days it would begin reducing its obligations to the deal, unless other signatories complied with the stipulations.
In December, signatories considered the United States the main cause of tensions with Iran.
A statement from the Joint Commission of the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action stressed the importance of adhering to the obligations imposed by the agreement.
Signatories also promised to create alternative means to keep the deal alive, while the International Atomic Energy Organization confirmed that the Islamic Republic remained within the stipulated limits despite the sanctions.
