Vice president to represent China at Japanese Emperor's enthronement

Chinese Vice President Wang Qishan will represent his country at the enthronement ceremony of Naruhito as the new Emperor of Japan, which will take place on October 22.

As announced, Wang's agenda includes talks with leaders of the Japanese State and representatives of several fields, as well as a visit to Hokkaido Prefecture.

Japan's Prime Minister Shinzo Abe expects to receive in person half a hundred presidents and representatives from more than 190 countries invited to the event.

Japan is meticulously organizing the Sokuirei-Seiden-no-gi enthronement ceremony, and Abe directed maximum efforts to ensure the preparations run smoothly, as this is the key imperial succession ritual.

Naruhito ascended the Chrysanthemum Throne on May 1 in a private act and behind closed doors, a day after his father Akihito abdicated.

During the Sokuirei-Seiden-no-gi ceremony, Naruhito will be formally proclaimed Emperor before Japan and the world, amid the same rituals performed for more than a thousand years in the Imperial House of Japan.

International visitors will also be present at a later banquet the monarch will offer in his court.
