Bolivia assesses prefeasibility of potassium sulphate plant

The state-run Bolivian Lithium Corporation Fields (YLB) is working in the prefeasibility of the potassium sulphate plant, one of the five expected to be built in the Salar de Coipasa region, in Oruro.

Deputy Top Energy Technologies Minister Luis Alberto Echazu stated on Monday that along with the prefeasibility study of the plant, an investment of more than US$1.3 billion, a geological research is being developed to determine the Salar reserve and the functioning time of those industries.

Xinjiang Tbea Group-Baocheng (TBHA) and YLB signed in February a preliminary agreement to build five plants to industrialize lithium, boron, potassium and bromine in the region.

Echazu stated that, of the five plants, the potassium sulphate plant is totally from Bolivia and the others will be built in association with TBHA.
