Syrian President issues general amnesty

In a magnimus gesture of goodwill Syria's President Bashar Al-Assad has issued a general amnesty covering almost most crimes having to do with the terrorist and mercenary war the country has faced for over 8 years.

'The president promulgated decree No. 20 for 2019 that grants general amnesty for crimes committed before September 14 this year,' the Syrian presidency posted on Facebook.

Justice Minister Hisham al-Shaar said that only some 'horrific' crimes such as treason and espionage were excluded from the provisions of this legislative decree.

'We have asked the prosecutors' offices in all provinces to immediately apply the contents of the amnesty decree,' the Syrian president said.
