India and China eased tensions at delegation-level talks after soldiers from both armies clashed near the border in the newly formed Indian territory of Ladakh, it was released Thursday.
Army sources said the incident happened near the northern shore of Pangong Tso Lake because of differing perceptions about the Line of Control between India and China, the Press Trust of India reported.
Delegation-level talks helped reduce tension, Defense Ministry officials said.
Last week, India and China postponed the next round of border talks under the special representatives mechanism, the Hindustan Times reported.
Senior officials from both countries were expected to meet late this month in New Delhi to resolve a long-standing dispute over the 3,488-kilometer border.
The latest round of talks took place near the southwestern Chinese city of Chengdu last November, the newspaper added.
