The European Network of Solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution rejected on Monday the position of some countries that integrate the European Union to support the coup maneuvers of the Venezuelan opposition, allied with the United States Government, and against the president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro.
"These actions demonstrate a submission to the interests of the United States who has been at the head of the coup d'état that is taking place in Venezuela, as well as international pressure to try to break the Bolivarian Government and drown the Venezuelan people product of the coercive measures that have been imposed on this South American nation ", expressed the solidarity net in a statement released via Twitter.
These European organizations demand that the EU adhere to the principles of the institution such as non-interference, or interference with internal affairs, among others aimed at ensuring the consolidation of democracy.
In addition, they invite the EU to take positions promoting peace and dialogue in order to avoid situations of confrontation in Venezuela.
Below, the full statement:
EUROPEAN UNION MUST ASSUME ITS ELEMENTARY PRINCIPLES
TO GUARANTEE THE PEACE OF THE VENEZUELAN PEOPLE
The more than 80 organizations that group the European Network of Solidarity with the Bolivarian Revolution want to reject the position of the European Union to support the coup in Venezuela, as well as repudiate the pronouncements of some countries that make it publicly recognized Juan Guaidó as interim president, in a process of transition, in Venezuela. Fact, which we reiterate, violates Venezuelan laws and International Law.
These actions demonstrate a submission to the interests of the United States that has been at the head of the coup that is taking place in Venezuela, as well as international pressure to try to break the Bolivarian Government and drown the Venezuelan people of the coercive measures that have been imposed on this South American Nation.
It also demonstrates how the situation in Venezuela has taken to the heart of the European Union to conflicting positions that violate the basic principles of international relations or diplomacy of the institution. As stated in its principles and constitutional framework for the European Union's external action, it should ensure: 'the promotion and consolidation of democracy, the rule of law, human rights and international law; the maintenance of peace and the prevention of conflicts, seeking greater international security and within the framework of the Charter of the United Nations Organization ".
In this regard, we demand that the European Union respect its principles. Apply the principle of legality, non-interference in the internal affairs of another country, respecting international law and the Charter of the United Nations, as well as, positions that promote dialogue and peace in Venezuela to avoid any circumstance that may lead to confrontation the Venezuelan position.
Finally, we demand that this institution must assume positions such as that of Mexico, Uruguay, the Pope and the Secretary General of the United Nations, Antonio Gutierres, which show that there may be intermediation initiatives that contribute to mediate for the good solution of their conflicts.
NO TO THE COUP OF STATE IN VENEZUELA
RESPECT FOR THE SOVEREIGNTY OF VENEZUELA
NOT WAR!
FOR DIALOGUE AND PEACE!
