TSJ presented actions for peace in front of the president of the States Parties to the Rome Statute

The president of the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ), Maikel Moreno, explained before the president of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute, O-Gon Kwon, the actions that the judicial branch will undertake to preserve the peace in Venezuela, in de middle of the wave of violence that was experienced last year in the country.

"It is my commitment as president of the Supreme Court of Justice and the Venezuelan Judicial Power that with respect to procedural rights we will come to punish those who in their time committed the crime of provoking violence in the streets," Moreno said during a speech in a meeting in The Hague, Kingdom of the Netherlands, where he participates on the occasion of the commemoration of the 20th Anniversary of the Approval of the Rome Statute of the International Criminal Court (ICC).

In that meeting, the magistrate also ratified the support of the highest court to advance the cooperation of all multilateral organizations in the world, including the International Criminal Court.

"I share the desire to have an International Criminal Court of course strong, transparent, independent, without interference or internal, or external from anywhere," said Moreno, outlined in a press release from the Ministry of Interior Justice and Peace (MPPIJP).

Moreno took the opportunity to invite the President of the Assembly of States Parties to the Rome Statute, for the opening of Judicial Activities in the coming year 2019.

In the meantime, Mr. Kwon thanked the president of the highest court of the country for his invitation, making a final reference that as long as each nation resolves its own matters in judicial matters, always adhering to the legal order; the ICC would have no jurisdiction in the internal affairs of each country.
