The Government of the People's Republic of China expressed its solidarity with Venezuela after the illegal and meddling sanctions unilaterally decided and enforced by the United States government against the Venezuelan people.
Chinese Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Hua Chunying said her country is calling for respect for the sovereignty and independence of States, in line with the principle of non-interference in the internal affairs of other nations.
"The current problems in Venezuela should be solved by the Venezuelan government and the people themselves. The experience of history shows that outside interference or unilateral sanctions will make the situation even more complicated and will not help resolve the actual problem," top official said in a statement released by the Venezuelan Foreign Ministry.
She added that her nation, based on the principles of cooperation, maintains commercial and financial relations with Latin American countries including Venezuela, a nation they hope stability and development will prevail.
The message of solidarity responds to the economic sanctions and military threat the government of Donald Trump launched against Venezuela due to the National Constituent Assembly as the original forum to guarantee peace and draft a new constitution.
