Venezuela's Attorney General, Tarek William Saab, underlined that his main mission is to restructure, improve and recover the credibility of the Public Ministry (MP, Spanish acronym).
During a press conference offered Monday, Saab thanked the support of workers of the MP, for showing their willingness to move forward in transforming this institution.
"All employees, from the most humble doorman to the most qualified fiscal, have offered to be at my services because they understood that with this restructuring we are heading to a different stage in this key institution for democracy. I will seek the balance to promote justice with equity, doing a great job to restore peace," he said.
On the other hand, he reiterated that his appointment as public prosecutor last Saturday was carried out due to the merit trial against former prosecutor Luisa Ortega Diaz, after having been denounced before the Supreme Court of Justice (TSJ) for inexcusable serious offenses and violation of ethics and public morality.
"The violations committed by Ortega Diaz will have a legal outcome, as they caused damage to democratic institutions and jeopardized citizen peace," Saab said.
The prosecutor said that the terrorist acts promoted since April by violent groups financed by the right will not go unpunished. "We have come here so there is justice with equity in common crimes," he said.
In this regard, he said that in Venezuela hate crimes have increased since April, when a seditious agenda was activated against the nation by the opposition coalition.
"Every statement by Ortega Diaz, from March 31, 2017, put the public peace in grave danger, so that the unpunished and premeditated action of the Public Ministry will be recorded in history," he added.
