U.S. maximizes intervention and bets on violence in Venezuela

Caracas, 18 Jul. AVN.- U.S. President Donald Trump threatened Monday with "strong and prompt" economic sanctions against Venezuela if the call for a National Constituent Assembly continues, whose electoral process is scheduled for July 30 and was widely backed this Sunday during a mock voting exercise to prepare the technology platform.
"The United States will not stand by as Venezuela crumbles," a U.S. government communique threatens in a clear interference in the sovereign free exercise of local politics.
In relation to the unconstitutional plebiscite the opposition carried out last weekend, Trump said that "the Venezuelan people again made clear that they stand for democracy, freedom, and rule of law. Yet their strong and courageous actions continue to be ignored by a bad leader who dreams of becoming a dictator."
The new threat joins the long list of aggressions whose maximum expression was the executive decree of former President Barack Obama on March 9, 2015 in which Venezuela was declared an unusual and extraordinary threat to U.S. security.
At that time, President Nicolas Maduro described the decision as "the most aggressive, unfair and nefarious step that has ever been taken against Venezuela."
The measures taken by the United States, according to analysts, politicians and social movements, are a precedent to justify the foreign intervention put forward by the anti-Chavez coalition in Venezuela through the leaders of the opposition coalition MUD.
It is no small matter that during the hearing of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee to approve his nomination as State Department's No. 2 official, Thomas Shannon, the dialogue liaison with Venezuela, anticipated that sanctions would be further extended if it was "necessary".
Faced with the last actions of the American empire, the 2014 Act for "Defense of Human Rights and Civil Society of Venezuela", sponsored by Senators Robert Menendez, Marco Rubio, Bill Nelson, Mark Kirk and John McCain, is a timid document. Also, the report of the NGO Freedom House, financed by the Department of State, which declared Venezuela a country "without freedom".
President Nicolas Maduro responded to the threats emanating from Washington and stressed that he leads a free and sovereign country that is not intimidated. "Venezuela is not blocked by anyone," he said.
Meanwhile, several countries, social groups and academics in Latin America have expressed their support for the Venezuelan people condemning the actions of the U.S. Government. Several experts say that the U.S. government prepares a military aggression reissuing the doctrine of Responsibility to Protect (R2P), used in Libya and tried in Syria.
