AVN.- The Venezuelan people turned to the streets Sunday to participate in the dry run vote for the elections of the National Constituent Assembly (ANC, Spanish acronym).
From early morning until late at night, millions of men and women went to the 551 polling stations nationwide set up by the National Electoral Council (CNE) for this trial, which had 1,942 voting tables.
"This Sunday, July 16, we have written the preamble of the great patriotic victory we will obtain in the election of the National Constituent Assembly, thanks to the determination of the Venezuelan people who came out massively to support the election mock called by the CNE," said the president Nicolas Maduro, through his Facebook user.
Comparing to the mocks carried out in past electoral processes, the president said this one represented a historical fact. "Never before has a process of this kind been so strongly supported. Until late at night hundreds of people remained in the lines of the polling stations."
"I thank the people mainly for their confidence, for their support, which gives us the certainty of the overwhelming victory we will have in two weeks and that we will build peace and sovereignty together," he added.
Democratic Participation
Throughout the day the polling stations were full of Venezuelans eager to participate in the electoral rehearsal.
Ruth Rios, a resident of Trujillo state, highlighted the importance of Venezuelans engaging in this activity that strengthens the country's democracy.
"We Venezuelans are here once again reaffirming, in a civic and joyful way, that we believe in democracy, in the electoral body and in the country. Voting is synonymous with peace," she said.
Technical tests
This Sunday's test served to verify that the electoral platform works with total normality, since the CNE verified the internal and logistic processes of the election day.
"The electoral platform has been working very well, participation has been good. This trial for us (Electoral Branch) serves to test internal processes and logistics, and for the people of Venezuela serves to familiarize themselves with the system that will be implemented next July 30," said CNE's president, Tibisay Lucena.
She announced that due to the massive participation of the people in the electoral trial, the CNE will enable from 17 to 27 July around 600 machines in the municipalities and regional offices of the country, so that Venezuelans continue to familiarize themselves with the process leading to the elections of the National Constituent Assembly.
Fast and easy process
The Venezuelans who attended the electoral rehearsal agreed that the voting process to elect members of the ANC is quick and simple.
"It's an extremely fast and precise process. CNE workers guide the people in the electoral process that I consider very simple, it does not last more than a minute. We hope that on July 30 everyone goes to vote," said Eliana Soto, a resident of Miranda state who attended the dry run vote.
