Dismantled new seditious cells of extreme right

Caracas, 25 May. AVN.- Venezuela's Minister for Interior Relations, Justice and Peace, Nestor Reverol, said Wednesday that new seditious cells belonging to the Venezuelan extreme right and intended to create hotspots of violence throughout the country were dismantled.
"During the last 48 hours we were able to dismantle new armed terrorist cells that have been unleashing hotbeds of violence, trying to curtail the rights to life, peace, free transit and the daily development of society," said Reverol in statements to state media.
In this regard, he said that citizens Victor Lizandro and Marelys Hernandez, activists of the extreme right-wing party Voluntad Popular (or People's Will), were arrested for leading vandalism in Miranda state, specifically in San Antonio de los Altos. Likewise, according to Reverol, David Escalante and Maria Andreina Montilla, also members of the extreme right party, were arrested for financing violent squads in Caracas.
Likewise, minister said that Hector Gonzalez Machado, a member of Un Nuevo Tiempo party, and Ergio Paz and Daniel Albornoz, members of the right-wing party Primero Justicia, were captured committing acts of riots and looting and organizing violent gangs in Zulia state.
"In all of these incidents, a large amount of unconventional explosive material, Molotov bombs, used for terrorist actions, and other crime-related elements were seized. There is no doubt that the Venezuelan extreme right persists in a coup d'etat, orchestrated by paramilitary armed groups associated with criminal gangs, completely outside the Constitution, to the point of besieging military facilities, with the implicit risk of causing deaths," he said.
In the last month, opposition sectors have called to take to the streets, which has ended in encouraging violent squads in different states of the country, resulting in the killing of 55 people and the wounding of a thousand people, as well as damages to 346 public and private properties, with large losses of capital.
The attendance of peaceful opposition demonstrators precedes the violent action of the groups –small in proportion to the summoned demonstration– causing the long confrontations at the end of each march and whose images are then showed in the campaign of "repression" of the national government against the opposition people spread in social networks, national and foreign media.
These violent agents come prepared at the beginning of the demonstrations. They also have improved their organization and use of military tactics, which reveals their training and financing, as well as the increase in the number of members.
Minister Reverol reaffirms his call for dialogue and peace in order to guarantee the stability of the country, through the initiative of the National Constituent Assembly, convened last May 1, whose bases were delivered Tuesday to the Electoral Power.
"We reiterate the call made by the constitutional president of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro Moros, to strengthen the participatory and protagonist democracy, through the call to the National Constituent Assembly, which is equal to the peace process our people deserves. Such constituent assembly will be held in July this year as well as the regional elections in December this year," he said.
Climate of impunity is driven by Public Ministry
Reverol denounced that the inaction of public prosecutors (Public Ministry), who investigate cases of violence committed by seditious squads financed by opposition sectors, promotes a climate of impunity.
"This spiral of violence has created a climate of impunity, propitiated at the same time by the Public Ministry, which with its inaction has not ensured the proper application of justice and consequently has caused anxiety in the community," he warned.
As an example, he mentioned the case of farmer and craftsman Jose Roman Quintero's house, which was assaulted and set on fire by vandalism squads on May 13, in Merida state, just for having a piece of wood with the face of commander Hugo Chavez hanging on his door.
"Noteworthy is the particular case of Merida state, where perpetrators of the assault and arson of the house of citizen Jose Roman Quintero, a peasant, a farmer and a craftsman, were captured. He enjoys respect and affection ffrom the Pueblo Llano community. In this case, prosecutors of the Public Ministry dismissed all the police actions carried out on flagrancy and ordered full freedom for those involved," he said.
The minister pointed out that this inaction by the respective prosecutors contributes to the climate of impunity and leads to violence, such as happened last weekend, in Altamira, Caracas, when violent groups –participating in an opposition protest– stabbed and poured gasoline over a young man, Orlando Figueroa Zaragoza, 21, and set him on fire.
After being set ablaze, the young man was persecuted and beaten, which caused him multiple injuries and burns in almost 100% of his body. He is currently hospitalized at the Domingo Luciani Hospital in Miranda state.
With regard to this case, Reverol urged the MP to investigate these facts.
Public prosecutor, Luisa Ortega Diaz, said that, following investigations by members of the public ministry of these violent actions, this agency has charged 2,664 people for the alleged crimes of homicide, injuries, public instigation, theft and robbery, ownership of incendiary objects, violent outrage. Of the total number of defendants, only 284 people have been arrested.
On the other hand, Minister Reverol highlighted the role of the state security forces and the Bolivarian National Armed Forces to maintain stability and public order of the country.
"The Bolivarian Government defends the actions of the different police, security bodies and the Bolivarian National Armed Forces, in strict adherence to the constitution and laws of the republic, who are committed to restore, control and keep public order," he said.
