Syria reports 4,774 Covid-19 cases

With 56 new Covid-19 cases reported in the last few hours, the number of people with the virus in Syria reached 4,774, the Ministry of Health informed.

Of that figure, some 1,331 were recovered from the disease, while four people died in a day, totaling 228 deaths since the pandemic was detected in this country on March 22.

Faced with the possibility of a peak in the disease, Syrian authorities prepared a hospital with more than 200 beds in Damascus to assist patients nationwide.

The Ministry of Health stated that this also implies an increase in prevention measures since the daily average in the last few weeks ranges between 40 and more than 60 cases.

Syria maintains borders closed, restrictions at workplaces, commercial, service centers and religious institutions, as well as in vehicle mobility among provinces.
