Almost 1500 Casualties due to Heat Waves in France

During the two heat waves that hit France this summer, 1435 persons lost their lives, more than the average number of deaths in the season, Health Minister Agnes Buzyn said here.

In statements to the press, the official said 567 of the deaths occurred in the context of the first cannula, at the end of June, and 868 during the second, which affected the country less than a month later.

Buzyn stressed that these heat waves were less deadly than those of 2003, when 15,000 human beings died above average statistics, a way to present the issue of fatalities, based on the argument that it is not always possible to attribute a death to high temperatures.

Prevention is the key to the best result, since the population was able to get the warning, she said and recalled that the cannula lasted 20 days 20 years ago, while in 2019 the two added 18, but impacted 20 million men, women and children.

According to the minister, half of the deaths were cases of people over 75 years.
