National Humanized Birth Plan to serve 900 patients in first phase

AVN.- The Venezuelan Government launched on Tuesday the National Humanized Birth Plan, a health program that has among its objectives to serve in its first phase about 900 pregnant women.
Venezuela's President Nicolas Maduro said this plan will combine all the advances of science and ancestral knowledge to care for women in pregnancy. He added that network of Mission Barrio Adentro will join this program, to contribute to the care of patients in preventive medicine.
"Pregnancy is an eminently social process and we have to make a change from the paradigms of the anti-values that were sown for 100 years of savage capitalism and materialistic capitalism leading to a loss of the habit of the mother and family as baby's companions," President said in statements to state media during the launch of this new program in Caracas.
He pointed out that the second objective of this national plan is to serve, in the second phase, 3,057 women who are already being contacted through the Homeland Card, a tool promoted by the national government to optimize the operation of social plans.
For her part, the Minister for Women and Gender Equality, Blanca Eekhout stated that the first 900 selected women were the result of the house-to-house visit of the Somos Venezuela Movement.
She said that the National Humanized Birth Plan will include professionals such as comprehensive community doctors, women who have acquired training and deepen their knowledge in humanized birth, 100 facilitators, representatives from the Ministry of Health and all community health areas and the Cuban Medical Mission.
"What you launch today, as a national plan, is humanizing Venezuela and we will face any strategy of violence with life, peace, love and solidarity," she said.
For this program, the Executive passed 12 billion bolivars that will be used to train 10,000 community promoters of the National Humanized Birth Plan, as well as to activate a communication campaign on the importance of humanitarian care of pregnant women.
Movement of doctors
At the event, the President called on health professionals to form a movement of doctors to strengthen the National Humanized Birth Plan.
Maduro said this movement will have the task of training doctors and professionals in the area, under a new scheme prioritizing the humanitarian care of pregnant women.
In addition, he said it is important that the public health system gets together to promote the training process of Venezuelan doctors about this new form of care for pregnant women.
Maternity Shelter for humanized childbirth
Three houses of Maternity Shelter in Cojedes state will offer services from Tuesday to the National Humanized Birth Plan, said state governor Margaud Godoy.
One of the facilities is located in the Mejias municipality, another in the Romulo Gallegos municipality and the third one is in the Tinaco municipality, governor said.
In addition, she added that there are two other facilities under construction that will be "put at the service of the women of Cojedes and above all include them from now on into the National Childbirth of Humanized Birth."
The Maternity Shelter Houses have as their main function to provide temporary shelter for mothers or pregnant women with risk factors or criteria (both them and their babies).
